The 2011 Ohio Qualifier for the Big I National finals, will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011, at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, a western suburb of Toledo, Ohio. The Ohio qualifier is open to boys and girls; and the players cannot be age 19 until after August 5, 2011. The State qualifier entry fee is $70, and includes a light lunch. Course conditions should be excellent, as that is when Highland Meadows normally hosts the LPGA Jamie Farr Kroger Classic. Toledo, Ohio, will be hosting the U.S. Senior Open in July, 2011, so the LPGA event will not be held this year.
The top two boys, and top two girls, will advance to the national finals on July 30th, to be held in Jackson, Mississippi, at the Reunion Country Club. It starts with a practice round on Sunday, July 31st, with the national finals finishing on Thursday, August 4, 2011.
The four players from Ohio will not have any travel or lodging expense if they fly with the Ohio chaperone, and will be compensated if they travel instead with their family. This is one of the oldest junior golfing events in the country, and has a great list of professional players who have played in this junior event, on their way to professional status.
